As I write, Joni Mitchell is here at my elbow singing about Amelia......
I got the amp set up, and then my son and I experienced many what I call "oh wow" moments. We're hearing so much that hasn't been there before.
I love the pacing. The highs are clean and sweet. The bottom end is all there with great definition. The amp is very revealing of source material, yet quite musical overall.
Now to rediscover my collection all over again!
I'm very pleased, and wanted you to know.

Comments: An addendum to my previous post, and, apologies for the bandwidth. The amp that Syd made for me, which I love, is an Elite 80, modified for a 4 ohm speaker load. I use Legacy Monitor speakers as satellites with 2 passive subwoofers from Cambridge Soundworks. So far, I'm using my Onkyo integrated (solid state) as the preamp. My major music source are my "lossless" digitized files of a substantial c.d. collection. My seven year old Mac has attached an external DAC feeding the pre-amp.Audiophiles may look down on a setup like mine; but this is the audio "world" I live in, and I'm very pleased with the results. For a long time I have felt that tube sound married with digital source material would potentially be synergistic, and the results speak for themselves. With one of Syd's amps at the heart of my system, I'm extremely satisfied.

| Comments: Hi, I just wanted to express an upDATEVALUE as it's been over 3 years since I've acquired my power amps from Syd and IdealInnovations. I'm still auditioning the Stereo 50 as if it were a new acquisition. I originally ran EL34's, but bought the new TungSol 6550's a year and a half ago, and they're at the heart of my system right now. Yes, for a modest upgrade, Syd made my amp versitile to run on a variety of different output tubes. I don't think that I express how much enjoyment I've derived from this amp. I run it atleast once a day, somedays for hours, and it is a very reliable piece of equiptment. I still have the Stereo 80 and stand behind my previous feedback on the amp. For today I wanted to valiDATEVALUE my previous feedback and state for the record that Syd's, or IdealInnovations power amps have stood the test of time, and Syd's still there if I need tech support. regards Tom |
